“I now get to help several companies and journalists with PR methods that I have noticed work in practice. Many companies have expertise that exceeds the news threshold. It just needs to be highlighted in the right way,” says Ville Kauppi, who previously worked at Asiakastieto.
Ville Kauppi, who has been responsible for content and PR at Suomen Asiakastieto (part of Enento Group) for over 20 years, will join the Promoted team. Ville is responsible for Promoted's marketing and named client relationships.
We asked him five quick questions.
What are you proud of in your past life?
I didn't stay at Asiakastieto for very long, because I feel that I and the company were constantly moving forward. I am proud that I was able to develop and experiment with many different ways of communication and marketing. During these years, the company became so familiar and reliable to journalists that its data and experts are quoted in the national media hundreds of times a year.
What made you switch from a large Nordic organization to a small office?
I was offered the opportunity to take a short break from work and study. I hadn't really thought of this kind of role for myself, but discussions with Promoted's founder Jari Peltola turned my head pretty quickly.
What do you have to offer B2B companies?
Companies and experts often downplay their own interest. I'm pretty good at sparring and finding angles where business links to current events. There are news topics in many more companies than you might think, when you just search for them and present them to journalists.
Is traditional media dying?
Absolutely not! The flood of information is certainly quite shameless, and many have switched to following the news exclusively on social media channels. This development is a bit worrying, but I believe that the need for reliable, quality journalism remains. In Finland, we can safely assume that the things published in major media are true. This is a value worth cherishing.
Where else can I run into you?
On the volleyball courts – or perhaps more accurately, on the sidelines. Besides work, I spend a lot of time as the manager of the Puma-Volley men's 1st division team. It's a passion and a hobby all in one.
